Welcome to all of our new whanau, exciting times having you join us. It can take a little time for the children to settle into our routines and rituals, we will support them and you any way we can.
Lulu the lamb has spent a couple days with us at preschool. The Holland family were kind enough to share Lulu with us, the children have been just facsinated with Lulu.
Purerehua: Our infants and toddlers have been enjoying the nice weather we have been having. We have been using our natural environment to nuture their love for nature. The environment has so many interesting things happening that our toddlers are loving to look, touch, smell and sometimes taste. Our older toddlers have been enjoying joining the bigger children relishing the challenges of the larger environment.
Ghekos: Building garages and car play has been very popular lately. The children have been helping to prepare the garden so we can plant new vegetables. This has been inspired by the manderin tree being completely full of manderins which the children have been enjoying eating each day.
Taniwhas: Letter of the week is still on the agender for Taniwhas, the children love to find new words starting with the letter. We do this as a fun way to familarise them with the alphabet.
Maori myths and legends: The children have been learning about Tauranga Moana Maunga Mouao. They have created mountains for a wall display to support this learning, this has been strengthening their fine motor skills through, cutting and colouring.
We are very proud of our children’s achievements and reflect this in their journals through stories and special art or photos. We invite you to add interests or special events from home anytime. This supports us to align a child’s learning around interests and links home and centre.
We encourage you to take your learning journals home just remember to bring them back so we can continue to grow these wonderful learning journeys.
Have you looked at our programme planning wall (in by the art tables)? Feel free to add ideas and interests of your children/photos of special activities or events with your whanau. We want you involved in your child’s learning. If you have special skills to share be it cooking; art; gardening;
carpentry; playing an instrument; photos or experiences from the other parts of the world we would love you to come in!!
A big thank you from Caroline, Lannie, Bev, Amy, Alisha, Shona and Jeanie!
